2009 catch up - ready for 2010!

I've been HORRIBLE at posting on this blog, i tend to think that Facebook does all the work for me. However, here are a few updates of what's been going on with me in ending 2009.

July 4th: Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. Gorgeous fireworks right there in the outdoor concert venue while the Los Angeles Philharmonics played

Summer End Activities: We had MANY fun beach days, went Paragliding in San Bernadino (and have a free flight still to come), kayaking, and my first annual sushi night (a new September tradition me and my friend Matt decided to host). We succeeded at our first attempt to dessert sushi - made with Rice Krispie treats, man is that a lot of sugar.

Halloween: I was a pin-up girl with friends from work. Too bad without my friends from work who REALLY looked like a pin-up girl i just looked like a girl who was dressed up with a cool 50's hairstyle and red lipstick :)

Winter: A trip to Utah where we skied, went to a Lakers game, saw Christmas lights at temple square, went crazy bowling and of COURSE hung out with Courtney!!! Then it was home for Christmas! Fun times with the Family was greatly needed! December was a good month :)

Bring on 2010! First step...Bungee Jumping for my birthday! :)

I like to move it move it, I like to move it move it

2 weekends ago i finally moved, somewhere new in LA. We decided to move on and change scenery so we all cleared out of the apartment i've been in for the last 2 years or so, a little under. I am sad to see my roommate Heidi go and not be with her anymore, but we will still see each other and hang out, i'm positive. I moved down to MarVista (closer to the beach, south of Santa Monica) into a cute cute apartment. I am in the loft, it's a really fun little space that i'm excited to decorate and make my own. Courtney came out and visited last weekend, and while i was at work helped my roomate organize the kitchen, so she knows where things are better than i do! Anyways, i'm really excited to be living here, my roomates are really cool, and i'm in a new ward so i can meet new people. It's gonna be a good change, i'm excited. Here are some pictures so you can get a good idea of what it looks like. Don't know if it does it justice.

Mo room, the loft
The decorated bathroom
The kitchen
The living room looking into the kitchen
The living room from my loft. There are 2 balconies, lots of light, and even my own private outdoor deck! come and visit to see for yourself:)

I'm excited to make this my new home.

Britney Spears Baby

A couple weeks ago I got to go to the Britney Spears concert, for free:) Of course from work. We got the tickets like a week before the show and got the best seats in the house! She lip synched the whole show, but it was still an awesome performance. It was a crazy circus show with lots of memories of the good ol' high school days because i knew almost every word from her old songs:) Here are some pics of exactly where we were, pretty amazing.

My Emotional/Personality Type

So recently I've really gotten to know myself and my personality type. I've noticed the way that I process my feelings and respond to others more so now just because of where I am right now. I've always thought i was a great socializer and conversationalist, but when it comes to a relationship it's been quite interesting to figure myself out and notice some of my attributes. I've been reading about this stuff a lot through magazines, Body + Soul, and a book called The Color Code. Everyone knows this book, you take a test to figure out what color you are. Well, I've always known I'm Yellow. Let me tell you what I've figured out through these books.

Yellows: value play, welcome praise, need intimacy, want to be popular, like action. Noncommittal, irresponsible but enthusiastic and carefree.

As an individual:
highly optimistic, likes self and accepts others easily, sees life as an experience to be enjoyed, flashy and spunky, adventurous and daring.

As a communicator:
Spontaneous thinker, enjoys and promotes being physical, easy to converse with, comfortable with people, energized by large groups, superb at superficial conversation

As a goal setter:
Appreciates and lives for the present, prioritizes play time first, very flexible, accepts guidance from others, disciplined if he or she finds the task fun and challenging, demands action versus observation

As a Career Person:
people-oriented, friendly, able to take risks, high energy, charismatic and enjoyable to work with, likes to tackle short term projects with visible results

As a friend:
vulnerable, innocent and trusting, endearing, exciting and fun to be with, often prioritizes friends over family, forgiving of self and others, lively and entertaining, willing to free up schedule in order to play

As a committed companion: (Probably need to work on some of these)
brings excitement, promotes intimacy, enjoys unusual experiences, not burdened with emotional strings, few expectations of others, agreeable to change, accepts others suggestions.

Here are my faults that i definitely need to change, but are attributes so true given to Yellows:
irresponsible, unreliable, flighty, lots of talk with little action, superficial, loud, exaggerates. often speaks before thinking, unsympathetic towards depressions in others, interrupts others freely, restless and finds it difficult to stick with long term goals, unwilling to commit, unwilling to invest time in personal growth to improve relationships.

From the Magazine:
I'm a rock: strong and silent. I tend to internalize my on stressful emotions in a relationship and usually need some major nudging to get them out. I find it easier to listen than to share my feelings. (Once again, this is in a relationship, not a friendship as I tend to always blurt out my thoughts or gossip topics). How to fix this - stir things up and try to initiate emotional exchanges. Also, express one feeling a day.

So, it's amazing how many of this information is sooo true about myself. Now it's clear of what i need to work on to better my personal attributes:) I just thought that this was all so interesting!

Belated Christmas Cheer

The Christmas season in LA is actually really fun, despite the fact that we don't get snow, we make do. This season I did a few things that cheered me up and got me into the Christmas spirit. One of the most beautifully decorated places in town I think is the grove. They deck the place out with lights, trees, music, and even a santa sleigh! My friend had a birthday dinner there and afterwards we were able to take some fun pictures by all the decorations. Here are some of the fun ones:)

Another thing we did was ice skating in an outdoor ice skating rink. I don't have pictures of us actually skating but trust me, it was exactly like serendipity, but smaller, and not quite so cold:) After we had some fun on the promenade and getting hot chocolate. It's actually been a little nippy out in LA so we had fun bundling up. I also was able to go to some fun work Christmas parties, some were way cool - one of them even had fake snow!
Fake snow at a work party! And below, i wanted to show the guitar hero guitar, made from a real guitar! Xbox is soo cool:)The last thing was our ward Christmas party. Every year both of the single wards combine to put together a very nice Christmas dinner/dance party. We all eat ham, potatoes, and pie. After, most of the girls and only a few of the guys go ballroom dance. Tycen of course was one of the few guys that enjoy dancing, or even knows how to, so he felt obligated to dance with all the girls, they all appreciated it. Here are some fun pictures from that!
All in all, the Holiday season was very nice. More to come for New Years!
